Barghouti, formerly the leader of al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, made the critical remarks against Israel when he made an appearance in an Israeli court in occupied al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Wednesday.
Upon arrival in Hadarim prison after the court session, âBarghouti was not allowed back into his regular cell and was instead put in isolation,â the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said on Thursday.
Detainees in the prison protested the move and asked prison officials to explain their decision but Israeli authorities have not responded.
Barghouti, serving a life sentence in the Israeli prison since 2002, told journalists that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would only be resolved when the occupation comes to an end and Israel withdraws to the pre-1967 borders.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Society condemned the move and called on human rights organizations to stop violation of international law in Israeli jails.
